We are using cached mode, but haven't had any issues before Outlook 2016. On my colleagues desktop it does pretty much the same thing, creates the whole folder structure on the archive mailbox, but that doesn't even seem to move anything from the active mailbox, it goes through the million and one folders to replicate them to the archive mailbox, but the messages just stay there. So I don't know where they wen't > time to restore from external backups. Couldn't find them on my active mailbox either anymore, and couldn't restore them with Outlook's own restore functions. as a test I closed the archive mailbox on Outlook, closed Outlook, reopened Outlook, and reopened the archive mailbox, and there were zero messages/objects, just an empty folder structure. I looked into the archive mailbox after it finished in about 10 seconds, and objects seemed to have moved there from my active mailbox.
